When it comes to doing good, we’re shameless.
December 12th, 2018
We don’t just walk the talk, we ride the bike, cuddle the puppies and help families in their time of need. That’s just how we roll at Accent Inns, we’re habitual Shameless Do-Gooders.
What the heck is a Shameless Do-Gooder? Well, first and foremost it’s what we do every day. We’re always looking for ways we can make someone’s day just a little bit better. We believe in the simple things, like plenty of smiles, rubber duckies by (and in) your bath, helping you find your way to where you need to go, heck, we’ll even watch Rover while you run to the car.
Here are three Shameless Do-Gooder events we recently put our big hearts into and invited everyone to join in the fun.
Can you tell we ❤️ dogs?
We love nothing more than surprising people with an unexpected warm and furry welcome at one of our hotels or out in the community. On a recent Saturday, we partnered with BC SPCA (Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), to take over Moody Park in New Westminster, B.C., for a day.
Guests in the park with their four-legged friends were greeted with games, prizes, dog treats (naturally), and inflatable ducks (we told you, we have a thing for rubber ducks). The fun didn’t stop there – we also offered free family paw-traits by a professional photographer, printed on site.
At the surprise check-in desk, people rang the bell to win prizes, including throw toys and bandannas that read “I still live with my parents”, or a donation to the BC SPCA. Accent Inns is a proud supporter of the BC SPCA, offering shelter to workers during emergency intakes as well as financial support. We showed our love for the good work this organization carries out by donating $10,000. It was a feel-good kind of day for both canines and humans.
Showing our love for bikes!
The folks at the North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA) take two-wheeled fun seriously. And, so do we. When you stay at an Accent Inns hotel, you’ll quickly learn that we love bikes. You’ll always find bikes to ride or a place to tune-up or wash your well-loved wheels, we call it our “bike spa.” In fact, you can even bring your bike right up to your room! We come by it naturally since the CEO & President of Accent Ins, Mandy Farmer, is an avid, hard core cyclist and has no problem rocking the spandex.
To celebrate our love of cyclists, we along with our friends at NSMBA, took over North Vancouver’s Mount Seymour on a recent Saturday. We surprised people out on the trail and showed them our love with prizes, giving away free stuff like, you guessed it, more free nights in our bike-friendly hotels, free bike tune-ups and even free rides to the top on the Shred Shuttle.
We’re riding high now as one of only three Cedar Sponsors, which is the highest sponsor level NSMBA has! We are also the sponsor of the “Good Sir Martin” climbing trail on Mount Seymour. We couldn’t be prouder.
Kids run wild for a day
We’re all about letting kids have free time and getting out in nature. Don’t we all want that? That was our goal when we “invaded” Wildplay Element Park in Maple Ridge recently. Accent Inns proudly partners with Variety – the Children’s Charity because they do such wonderful work, including helping families find places to stay when a child is undergoing medical treatment. Since 2011, we’ve happily provided complimentary hotel rooms for families in need.
But our recent Shameless Do-Gooder invasion saw us treat Variety Club families to a fun-filled day out in nature at WildPlay Element Park in Maple Ridge. It was day of games, prizes, food truck fare and raising awareness for Variety Club. Watching these incredible kids with different abilities feel empowered after conquering the courses at WildPlay was our reward. And we proudly donated $10,000 so Variety can keep families together when things get tough.
