I had no expectations of ever talking over the family business, I worked elsewhere before working for my dad, and I continued to learn the business from experts (other than my father) by continuing to work outside the family business. On Saturday I (John Espley) had the privilege of attending the Pacific Salmon Foundations annual gala dinner in Victoria B.C. They hold 10 of these dinners around the province which are not only fundraisers for the organization but also a chance for supporters from all walks to get together and network. One of the young Hollywood stars I’ve certainly enjoyed watching is Christian Bale. I think he did a fantastic job as the incredibly complicated character, Batman. Well this past weekend he’s been given the Oscar for his role in The Fighter. Well deserved. The Pacific Salmon Foundation and the Sandbar Restaurant on Granville Island are getting together to raise money and support salmon restoration and regeneration with a charitable “Salmon Art Show” on Wednesday, March 2.
