I like Mud

Confession: I like mud.

Cracked ribs, a paramedic visit for a possible concussion, an infected rope burn, and day after day of sore tender muscles spanning the entire body (legs, arms, abs… even fingers?!)… all a result of almost 5 hours of mud soaked agony at the Power to Play Adventure race on May 2nd.

Why on earth did we do this??

Strangely enough, being covered in mud and hauling each other over 10 feet walls was actually very team building

It’s one of the most extreme work outs I’ve had and it served as an excellent training goal to get fit.

But really, why would we put ourselves through such torture? It seemed like a good idea at the time!

The best part for me was watching my team, a group of us who have worked out of the same small office for over 10

years coming together, getting to know each other better, and marveling at each other’s hidden talents that we didn’t know existed.  Though speed was not our particular forte, our ability to work together as a team allowed us to gain time on our competitors and sail through challenges that left others struggling.  I left in awe of our team and with a new found respect for how well we do work together in our day to day jobs of running an amazing hotel chain let alone navigating a 5 hour mine field of pain.

Was it worth it? Yeah.  Was it fun? Definitely. Would you do it again? For sure!
