Crystal Meth Society, actively making presentations and fundraising
March 19th, 2010
The Crystal Meth Prevention Society has been busy with Fundraising efforts and delivery of its ‘Be Crystal Clear’ message warning against street drugs in general and Crystal Meth in particular. The aim is to reduce the spread of crystal meth use in all communities through education and outreach support efforts. The Society is committed to the expansion of treatment options for community members, in particular youth, through fundraising efforts.
Recently Executive Director Mark McLaughlin, traveling from Victoria, presented the Meth Info Show for 200 kids at Collingwood Sch. West Van. When travelling we appreciate the support given by Accent Inns to help communities in the fight against street drugs. “Assisting the Societies work towards educating our youth on the dangers of drug use is a definite match with our companies values, and we are glad to help when we can”, said John Espley, Business Development Manager for Accent Inns.
In Victoria the Society recently presented at numerous events including area schools, a Public evening presentation in Langford, a training seminar at Victoria general Hospital, the quarterly meeting of the BC Association of Police Chiefs, the Biennial Convention of the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, the UVic. Youth & Society Conference. The Crystal Meth Prevention Society is run by volunteers and composed of parents and other concerned people in the community.
Their BC Government Gaming Branch application was unfortunately denied, and they are urgently seeking out donations and financial support.
