It’s National Volunteer week. As most of you know, supporting our communities is one of the key foundations for all of us at Accent Inns.  Throughout  the year we have the opportunity to assist and work with some of the best people on earth…Volunteers! With the support of local people giving their time, many organizations just would not be able to provide the services to our communities that we all cherish.  Whether it’s a one time effort working at a local fundraising event or a long term commitment putting in hours every

week, all volunteer time is welcomed. For those of us who have donated out time, it’s such a special feeling, that can’t even be described, when someone approaches and says “thanks for helping.” In some cases just “being there” can mean so much to individuals that may be down on their luck or need that ear to listen or hug to get them through the tough times. Some volunteers are especially lucky when they can apply a skill they have, to perhaps teach others or prepare a meal or even build a house or shelter. Opportunities

for volunteering are all around us so if you haven’t tried yet, check it out. It WILL change your life. At Accent Inns we are especially proud of our team members and their commitment to our communities. They give their time to sell items in support of Cancer research, give blood, collect donations for the Salvation Army, get pledges and walk or run to help children in need or even our best buddies, our pets.  Last week alone we had two great efforts all organized by our teams at the Victoria hotel and our Vancouver Airport hotel. Between the two locations they raised almost $1000 and lots of donations of clothing. The money and donations were in support of the SOS Children’s Villages of BC and the Power to Be. In two weeks a team from Accent Inns corporate office will be putting their bodies on the line in the Power to Play adventure race raising even more funds. Unsure of  where to go to volunteer, most communities have volunteer recruiting and placement organizations such as Volunteer Victoria and Kelowna
