Accent Inns and the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra in Harmony Together
October 20th, 2011
For Immediate release:
Accent Inns, the BC owned and operated hotel chain, and the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra are thrilled to announce that the OSO musicians now have a new official residence for the 2011/2012 season. The orchestra’s concert season opens with performances of The Falcon’s Trumpet, a unique collaborative presentation by the OSO and Ballet Kelowna, of a soaring work by celebrated Canadian composer R. Murray Schafer featuring renowned trumpet soloist Guy Few on October 21 in Kelowna and October 23 in Vernon.
The new home for the musicians is the Accent Inn Kelowna located at Gordon Drive and Harvey Avenue in downtown Kelowna, British Columbia. As of Wednesday, October 19, the OSO musicians will take up their new residence prior to the first rehearsals of the season.
“The handy, central location and comfortable accommodations at the Accent Inn make this partnership a most desirable one for the OSO,” said the orchestra’s General Manager Scott Wilson.
One of the key values and activities at Accent Inns is to connect with and offer support to the local communities in which we live and work. This includes not only local charities and service groups but also arts and cultural organizations which play an equally important part of any community. “Accent Inns is proud to house and support one of the oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions in the BC Interior,” John Espley, Business Development Manager, Accent Inns.
Both the OSO and Accent Inns are quite excited about the possibilities of promoting cultural tourism collaboratively.
To encourage symphony fans from farther afield, Accent Inns are offering a discount to anyone attending an Okanagan Symphony performance.
