Spring Means Social Media Camp in Victoria

April 8th, 2014

social media campJohn from Accent Inns here and guess what. It’s that time of year again. Cherry blossoms are in bloom, flowers are coming back to life in local gardens and the smell of fresh cut grass permeates the air (at least in Victoria BC). The coming of spring also means we have the chance to meet 700 of our closest friends. You know, those folks you friended, followed, chatted with, pinned and retweeted all winter. You’ll have the chance to meet those nice people at Social Media Camp 2014 in Victoria BC May 1-3.

Not only will you get the chance to say hi to friends face to face, you’ll also get a little exercise for those brain muscles. SMC once again has brought in and invited some awesome speakers on the subjects of online marketing, LinkedIn,  Facebook, twitter, YouTube and more.  How could you go wrong with a line-up of keynote speakers like Tod Maffin, Viveka von Rosen, Julien Smith. Then there’s the huge list of local and regional social media professionals such as Melonie Dodaro, Sean Smith, SMC producer Paul Holmes and the always entertaining Steve Dotto. There’s way to many speakers to list them all here but if you have an issue or question I’d bet dollars to donuts that you’ll find your answer at SMC.

hootsuite owlIf the list of speakers wasn’t enough, check out the schedule with sessions like; security in social media, more is not better, explode your business and one that caught my eye, being human in a digital world (is that anything like Tron?). Another session I’m looking forward to is advanced Hootsuite training (I wonder if we’ll catch a glimpse of the Owl?). The SMC weekend also includes the Social Media Awards (tickets sold separately) and a youth camp.

Social Media Camp happens because of the great work by producers Chris Burdge & Paul Holmes along with their staff and volunteers. Theside van logo support of sponsors is key to making the event a success and Accent Inns is proud to be one of those sponsors. Make sure to check out all the exhibitors at SMC. You’ll find lots of great information, cool swag, stuff to buy and most importantly visit the Hotel Zed VW bus, grab a sticker and enter the contest.

I’m certainly looking forward to Social Media Camp 2014 and hope to see you there too!
