McTavish Interchange Project – Notice of Highway 17 Lane Reductions and Total Closures during August
Construction crews will install bridge girders for the new interchange on the Pat Bay Highway (Highway 17) at McTavish Road this month. For the safety and convenience of the travelling public, this work will require the following night-time closures.
Tuesday, August 10
· Southbound slow lane closed at 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Wednesday, August 11
· Northbound slow lane closed at 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Thursday, August 12
· Northbound slow lane closed at 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
· Southbound passing lane closed at 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Wednesday, August 18
· Northbound slow lane closed at 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
· Total highway closure (both directions)* between Mt. Newton X-Road and Beacon Avenue at 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Thursday, August 19
· Total highway closure (both directions)* between Mt. Newton X-Road and Beacon Avenue at 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
* During the total highway closures, most traffic will be detoured via east of the highway via Mt. Newton X-Road, Lochside Drive (which becomes Fifth Street in Sidney) and Beacon Avenue. Motorists travelling to and from Victoria International Airport will be routed west of the highway via Mt. Newton X-Road and East Saanich Road from the south. From the north, the detour will use Beacon Avenue, Stirling Way, Ocean Avenue, Canora Road, East Saanich Road and Willingdon Avenue. Detour signs will be posted.
Travellers are reminded to allow extra time, observe posted speed limits in construction zones and along detour routes, and obey traffic control personnel, signs and signals at all times. For the latest traffic conditions visit www.DriveBC.ca.
